File Hash Calculator

Upload a file to compute its MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512, and CRC32 checksums simultaneously.

How It Works

This tool reads your file entirely in the browser and computes six different hash checksums simultaneously. No data is uploaded to any server — all processing happens locally on your device.

MD5 produces a 128-bit (32 hex character) digest. While no longer suitable for security, it remains widely used for quick file integrity checks.

SHA-1 produces a 160-bit (40 hex character) digest. Deprecated for cryptographic use but still common in legacy systems and Git.

SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512 are members of the SHA-2 family, producing 256-bit, 384-bit, and 512-bit digests respectively. They are the current standard for file integrity verification and digital signatures.

CRC32 is a 32-bit cyclic redundancy check. It is fast but not cryptographic — commonly used in ZIP files and network protocols for error detection.

Common Uses

  • Verify downloaded files match the publisher's checksum
  • Detect file corruption during transfer or storage
  • Compare two files without opening them
  • Generate checksums for software distribution
